How to see how much traffic is left

Updated 2 min read

Your dashboard shows how much bandwidth each proxy has used and how much it has left.

Where to look

  1. In the dashboard, open ISP or Datacenter under Proxies. The Bandwidth column gives a quick view.
  2. Open a proxy. Its Capacity card shows Bandwidth used: the GB used out of the GB available, with a bar. The Usage chart shows how it went over recent days.

When a proxy is nearly out, the card says "Nearly out. Requests stop when the bandwidth is spent."

Some ISP and datacenter plans are uncapped. Their card says the bandwidth is metered but never runs out.

The figures are updated regularly, not live with every request, so a request you just made may take a little while to show.

To add more, see Adding bandwidth to a proxy.

Why your own numbers may not match

The proxy does the counting, and most tools count a little differently. A small difference is normal. Two things often explain it:

  • A compressed response is smaller on the wire than the body your tool shows after unpacking it.
  • Block pages and captcha pages a website sends back are traffic, the same as any other page. So are retries that get an answer from the website.

Using less traffic

  1. Ask only for the pages and files you really need, and request compressed responses with Accept-Encoding: gzip.
  2. In a headless browser (a browser that runs without a window), block images, fonts and video.
  3. Stop a request that keeps failing for the same reason from retrying.

If the number looks wrong

If your own measurement differs from ours, tell us, and a person will look into it. See When something went wrong on our side.

Two other signs deserve a message: usage keeps going up while all your clients are stopped, or the figure never changes while they are running. Write to support@proxypanda.io with the proxy, the time you checked, what you saw, and your own byte count if you have one. Please leave out passwords.
