API keys for automating your account
Updated 1 min read
API keys let your own code talk to our API directly, for example to manage orders and proxies or to read usage. You do not need an API key to use a proxy. Proxies use their own username and password, or the IP allowlist.
Create a key
- Confirm your email address first. Keys cannot be created before that.
- In the dashboard, open Tools, then API keys.
- Press Generate new key.
- Each key comes as a pair: an API key and an API secret.
Make one key for each integration. Then you can delete one without breaking the others.
Keep the secret safe
Treat the API secret like a password. Do not put it in public code, screenshots or chat messages. Anyone with the pair can act on your account.
Delete a key
Press Delete next to the key and confirm. Anything using it stops working straight away. A deleted key cannot be restored.
Try requests and read the docs
- Tools, then API playground lets you send real requests as yourself, against your own account.
- The API documentation link on the API keys page opens the full reference.
If you think a key has leaked, delete it and create a new one.
