Keeping your account and proxies safe
Updated 2 min read
Traffic sent with your proxy credentials is billed to you, even if someone else used them. A few simple habits keep your account and your balance safe.
Protect your dashboard sign-in
- Use a password you do not use anywhere else.
- Turn on two-factor authentication. See Turning on two-factor authentication.
- Check where you are signed in. Go to My account, then the Security tab, and look at Where you are signed in. If you do not recognise a device, press Sign out everywhere else and change your password.
Protect your proxy credentials
Each proxy has its own username and password, shown on that proxy's page in the dashboard.
- Do not post them in public chats, in screenshots or in public code.
- Keep them out of code you share. Read them from a settings file or an environment variable instead.
- On a server with a fixed address, consider the IP allowlist, so no password is needed. See Letting the proxy recognise your IP address.
If you think a proxy password has leaked
- Open the proxy in the dashboard.
- Choose Generate a new password.
- Put the new password into your tools.
The old password stops working straight away, so anything still using it will stop connecting. If you are worried about traffic that was used before you changed it, write to support@proxypanda.io and tell us which proxy and when.
Changing your email address
You cannot change the email address on your account yourself. Write to support@proxypanda.io from your current address, and a person will help.
We will never ask for your password
Our support never asks for your dashboard password, your proxy password, or your card number. If someone does, it is not us.
