Why a website or map shows a different location
Why a website or map can show another country than your proxy's, and how to check the exit with our free tools.

If a website or a map shows a different country from your proxy's, the proxy is usually working and something else is reporting the place. These steps help you see which.
Check where the exit is
- Set your browser to use the proxy.
- Open the What is my IP tool. It shows your public IP, its network and type, and the flags that IP databases put on it.
- Open the proxy checker and press Check my connection. Look at the Exit IP and the WebRTC line. A second public address means a page can see past the proxy.
- Compare the country with the proxy's page in your dashboard. The country is the part to rely on, because city level differs between databases.
Common reasons for a mismatch
- Database lag. Location databases update on their own schedule, so an address that changed hands recently can still show its old country.
- Maps and weather pages often ask your browser or device for its location instead of using your IP. Clear that site's location permission and reload.
- A normal browser window keeps extensions, cookies and saved permissions. Try a private window with extensions turned off.
- Anti-detect browser profiles have their own time zone, language and location settings. If they do not match the proxy, sites see two different places. Set them to match.
- DNS or WebRTC leaks can show an address outside the proxy. Send DNS through the proxy and set WebRTC to follow it or turn it off.
Depending on the product you ordered, the location you chose may be a country only.
If the exit itself looks wrong
Send the exit address, the page that shows the wrong place and what the tools reported to support@proxypanda.io. If a website blocks your proxy, tell us this much lists the details that help, and we will help from there. We can confirm what is recorded for your address, but we cannot control how every other service shows it.
