New address each time, or the same one

Updated 2 min read

Residential proxies are coming soon. They are not on sale yet, so you cannot order them today. ISP and datacenter proxies are on sale now.

Websites see the proxy's address, called the exit IP address, not yours. With residential proxies, that address comes from a shared pool and changes as you go. ISP and datacenter IPs never rotate, so this page is about residential only.

What is the difference?

A rotating setup gives you a new exit address as you go. A sticky setup keeps the same exit address for a period of time.

Which one do you need?

It depends on what your program does between requests.

Rotating suits you when each request stands on its own. For example, collecting many separate public pages, or spreading your requests over many addresses.

Keeping one address suits you when the website links something to the address you started with. For example, a login, a basket or a form with several steps.

If an account needs the same address for days or weeks, an ISP IP is the right tool. It keeps one address for the whole term. See ISP proxies: how they work.

Can you keep one residential address for a while?

Ask us before you build around it. Write to support@proxypanda.io and we will tell you what to expect. Do not copy a session format you found for another provider: it will not work here.

Even where an address can be held, it does not last forever. The home connection behind it can go offline at any time. Build your program so it can start again from the beginning with a new address.

How to know whether your IP is changing

Send three requests in a row, each on a new connection, and compare the addresses:

bash
for i in 1 2 3; do curl -s -x "http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT" https://api.ipify.org; echo; done

Once you have a residential proxy, use its username, password, host and port. Different addresses mean it is rotating.

One thing to know: many programs keep a connection open and reuse it. That can make a rotating proxy look as if it keeps one address. Open a new connection when you want a new address.

If what you see does not match what you expect, write to support@proxypanda.io with the addresses you saw and the time. Please do not send your password.
